This is the start of a mini series of ‘Urban Canimals’ painted onto empty spray paint cans, I first started my ‘Canimal’ series back in 2020 where it was focused on bees. This Series I’m creating is based on animals that have adapted to urban environments, as they mirror the grit, resilience, and adaptability of street art and urban expression represented by spray paint. I had to kick it off with a raccoon or ‘trash panda’ as they’ve been come known by in the US. Raccoons are highly adaptable urban dwellers, thriving in cities due to their intelligence, dexterity, and omnivorous diet, often scavenging for food in trash bins - hence the nick name 🦝
