The name of this piece eludes to the orange colour of the monarch′s wings has long been known to be a warning to predators of its toxicity from the cardenolides it contains! Monarch butterflies are so unbelievably beautiful, I’ve painted them on many occasions as they’re also endangered (depending on the year) and such an iconic species. Glitter has been used in gentle ‘waves’ on this piece to symbolise the vibrations emanating from the butterflies wings.
