A commanding, luminous portrayal of the monarch butterfly — a species whose beauty is inseparable from its quiet defiance. The vivid orange of its wings serves as both seduction and warning, a natural signal of the toxicity it carries, survival encoded in colour.
Set against a deep, atmospheric ground, the butterfly appears almost suspended between worlds, delicate yet powerful, transient yet enduring. Subtle waves of glitter and iridescent paint ripple outward from the wings, suggesting unseen vibrations , energy, presence, a resonance that extends beyond the physical form.
A recurring and iconic subject within my practice, the monarch embodies both fragility and resilience. Its shifting status as an endangered species only heightens its significance , a fleeting miracle rendered here with reverence and intensity.
