Coloured pencil on cartridge paper 21x29cm
This pangolin drawing (next one in the Cute Collection) used all of the pencils!
I wanted it to look as though it’s melting in cactus flower petals, as this is a common flower from the habitat of the pangolin (mainly desert dwelling) and also hints at the fragility of this victim of illegal wildlife crime. There are 8 Pangolin species in Asia and Africa, and they range from vulnerable to critically endangered as these sweet creatures are killed for their meat and scales, particularly in Chinese medicine - though thankfully this has now been banned in China.
