I really love this species, so full of character and very unique as despite what their name says, they’re not related to the Panda. Red pandas belong to their own unique family: Ailuridae. There are fewer than 10,000 red pandas left in the wild, with some estimates suggesting the number could be as low as 2,500. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists the red panda as an endangered species, and their populations are under threat from habitat loss, poaching, and climate change.
