The Iberian lynx was on the verge of extinction but now there’s more than 2,400 Iberian lynx left in the wild, a significant increase from the low point of fewer than 100 in the early 2000s. This remarkable population recovery is the result of a collaborative, two-decade conservation effort in Spain and Portugal focused on restoring the lynx's habitat and prey (European rabbits) and reducing human-caused fatalities.
