This piece is exploring the idea of manifesting things into being, using the example of a beautiful endangered hummingbird starting out as a pencil sketch and slowly becoming more and more ‘real’ and painted into colour. The hummingbirds are formed in a loose figure eight (as they fly in this figuration) to hint at their connection to infinity and the divine, as well as this ability to fly in all directions being symbolic of adaptability and freedom…
As with most pieces, a poem by the Artist accompanies this piece.
Dreamt into being
In silence born from just a thought
Where time was still and form was naught
A whisper stirred cosmic threads
The tapestry of life began to spread.
Starting as shadows of what might be
Of what the Dreamer dared to see
A beat of a wing, a divine spark
That was carved by light from the dark.
Feathers imbued with a stardust green
The most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen
Infinity drawn into their flight
Dancing on the edge of day and night.
