Giclee on Somerset Velvet 330 gsm Paper, Edition of 25, 60x60cm
This piece plays with the absurd clash between natural warning systems and human temptation. In the wild, bright colours scream danger: poisonous frogs, toxic plants, creatures advertising their “do not touch” status. Yet humans hijack that same visual language to do the opposite — we load our unhealthiest foods with hyper-bright colours designed to lure, excite, and seduce.
By placing a vividly coloured frog on an equally fluorescent donut, the painting exaggerates this contradiction to surreal, humorous effect. Nature uses colour to protect life; we use it to sell sugar.
It’s a playful image with a sharp edge — a commentary on how easily our instincts can be tricked.
