Consume is commenting on pop culture and consumerism, summed up in an artificially coloured pink doughnut. In nature brightly coloured animals like tree frogs are brughtly coloured to warn animals not to consume them as they may be poisonous. Mankind does the opposite of nature by adding artificial colours to food to make it more aesthetically pleasing for the masses, even though it is being laced with things that are bad for us like sugar, artificial sweetners, e-numbers etc...
