The starling has long been regarded as a bird of paradox, a creature of the ordinary made extraordinary. At first glance it appears black, but as the light shifts, galaxies of iridescent colour emerge, its plumage scattered with tiny stars as though it carries fragments of the night sky upon its body. In Collapsing Realities, the bird becomes something far more than a bird. It is a traveller between worlds, tearing through the fragile membrane that separates one reality from another. The fractured void behind it suggests that what we perceive as solid and certain may be nothing more than a thin veil, splitting open to reveal an infinite cosmos beyond…
